Can you guys tell me why you like this manga series? I want to understand it from a different perspective. I've read a few volumes and I can't like it even though I'm usually quick to like battle shōnen in general. Edit: it doesn't have to be spoiler-free

I like Tanjiro so much! He is such a pure hearted hero, I haven't seen another quite like him--he will strike down the demons without overthinking it but after the deed is done he feels for the tortured human underneath the demon guise--nice dichotomy there. I like the strong family bond he has with his sister turned 'good' demon, Nezuko and that he became a slayer to get to the cure for Nezuko. There are no harems here--just family. I like the range of hero personalities in the hashira of the demon slaying core, I also like the balance with the demon personalities too. They don't just get killed left and right like the goblins in goblinslayer they actually have depth. Also I appreciate that the good guys do not always win--it is more balanced that black clover or my hero academia and the humans can always be put out of commission with maiming, not just death and not that disney death bs like Bleach. They all have to work their asses off to get stronger.
I think the series could do better on the comic relief--the boar guy and the thunder guy are annoying not amusing imho. It could also do better on strategies-not using Nezuko as bait to draw out the big bad; gathering everyone in one place to be slaughter, etc.

Thank you for the answer! Maybe what ruined it for me were the somewhat high expectations I had. Everyone was praising it, saying it was so much better than your regular battle shōnen and I can't help but think it's the definition of average, nothing more, nothing less. I didn't really like it but It's not necessarily bad, so I'll try reading some more. I might change my opinion someday.

The anime makes the manga's battle shounen look amazing, the hype isn't from the manga, it's from the anime. If you were to read the manga for promised Neverland, your experience are different from those that watch it bc the anime made it more suspenseful. Some mangas are better being seen in an animation. Askkng us why we like the manga isn't gonna change the already high expectations you have of the manga

I read the manga for Promised Neverland and it was really good, I don't think I'll stop to watch the anime for that one. I want to know what are your thoughts because when binge reading I could have missed something. I actually started liking Tanjirou a bit more after afroluv's reply, so I don't think it's all that useless
Welcome back, baby
