I know he's absolute trash, but at the same time, his childhood was absolutely horrible, so I don't think I can blame him anymore for clinging on to the bish that is his lover. At least she pretended to love him, and that was probably enough for him because he didn't realize what trash she is. Idk if I would be able to be strong in the face of that abuse either, and I think some sympathy is needed for him. That being said, it doesn't excuse what he did in the past life, but still...
