Okay, yes, I am staying for the story.
But can I gush for a few sentences about how they are using proper etiquette when taking their tea? Except when they studied in the library. So many comics set in this time period only pick up the cup and leave the saucer on the table and it's like getting water in your shoe to me. I'll even overlook that they don't show both hands putting down the two since I know it would look awkward on a still frame.
Just great job, author. Fine attention to detail. Please keep going.

Father Evan has half his mind back and is putting his foot down. Sir, your daughter is the same strong, intelligent woman your wife was. You know she'll make the best choice for her self. Let your new son-in-law over the entire kingdom to prove his love like he's already planning to do and let it happen.

"Wow, you're so skinny!"
Except her boobs are each bigger than her head. I understand it is a comment about how she has been deprived of food but there are women who have body proportions to where they would be underweight and still have curves, just not that large. And those villainess dresses must be made of magic to not only stay on but also keep her ladies lofted. I've friends as large and they don't like working out because they have to wear 2-3 sports bras so they don't get hit in the face. Those dresses would be a nightmare for them.

"You looked like a real family for a moment."
Oh hey look: a win-win situation. Why drag the child back to that horrible situation? Even if you want him for the throne, it looks like he'll have a much happier life with these royals. Strengthen relations and all that. Plus, since bird people are both genders, it doesn't matter if our main couple has a boy or a girl.
At least, this is where I see this going.

This chapter was like turning off the engine at an intersection.
Yeah, Jia did a crappy thing in the past. She's the only one who moved passed it. The two of you don't even want the same things anymore. And like everyone else is saying, that editor just needs to peace out; if his HR department knew, it would be a conflict of interest so they shouldn't be pushing him to remain her editor.

Well, with the way his father acts, I thought pimping his son out happened at a much younger age. Not that it's right (because clearly he knows he can do this despite what the first time looks like,) but he's such trash I wouldn't have put it past him to have subjected his child to it. Hell, if we find out he pimped out his wife while she was alive (I think I remember she's dead,) that would fit his shitty personality.
Our boys need happiness soon. May the aunt rip the dad apart legally to the nth degree.
Everyone is a bit slimy. Kanna is straight up mental and the crown prince is giving off yandere vibes but everyone has that layer of human grime. It's both leaves a bit of an icky feeling reading the characters' thoughts but also fascinating because they feel more real than the near Mary Sues prevalent throughout this genre.
...I'll keep reading to puzzle out my feelings on it.
