i will absolutely be the person who takes everything seriously. the one thing i hate the most about childcaring manhwas (this one included) is the fact that the “dad” is NEVER the biological father. now i’m not talking about the daddy-daughter manhwas where the mother has died. i’m talking about the very specific niche where the female lead is taking care of the child of the male lead. i’ve noticed that 9 times out of 10, the ml is never the real dad. it’s either a distant relative, a niece or nephew, or even a fucking orphan.
and i hate this narrative that a lot of authors love to paint and overuse—a virgin male lead. the deliberate distancing of any romantic or sexual experience feels a lot like purity culture. and i understand the appeal: “he’s never loved anyone BUT the fl.” but this is a childcaring manhwa? so why is he not a biological dad? like you want the hot dad baggage but not the actual dad part?
he’s a virgin. he’s never loved another woman. he hates other women oh but HER. the female lead is the ONLY one who can change him. yikes. this narrative flattens the character of the male lead SO much. like dude, he’s a fucking adult. YES he should have an ex. YES he should have been in love before. YES he should have had sex. especially if he’s like in his 20-30s. like what do you mean this grown ass man has NEVER touched a woman or even talked to another woman?
it makes me sick. it cheapens the romance and it doesn’t even feel like a true “he’s a dad” story. obviously, i’m not discrediting that adoptive dads aren’t real dads but if it’s EVERY manhwa? like single dads exist!!
it also feels a little misogynistic like oh no woman was important enough or special enough to ever wow him. i believe that authors and readers tend to insert themselves into the fl’s perspective and feel like they’re special because a man so successful has never looked at another woman but HER. and honestly, this is a very shitty take at romance. love is not always gonna be “he never loved anyone but her” it’s so boring like i LOVE a story where there’s an ex, it shows that the ml HAS some complexity to his character besides being the virgin ml.
honestly i could go on and on about this. the manhwa is cute ofc but i rolled my eyes after realizing he’s not the actual dad.

Oh so this is why I have been feeling irritated at hot-but-not-real-dad characters that have kids lately. I love a good wholesome romance with adorable kids in it, but every time there's a hot 'dad' character that ain't really the dad, but just adopted the kid(s), it makes the story feel... cheaped out and less interesting.

first off, the smut wasn’t even that good. it was mediocre at best. i do like the dynamic and that’s the only reason i look at it in a positive light. otherwise the explicit scenes were absolute shit.
charlotte is a little deranged and she’s ugly. hated those fuck ass bangs but when it comes to femdom stories, i’d eat dog shit if it was served to me. i’m so desperate for a good femdom story and this one unfortunately disappointed me as well.
obviously this story was never meant to be taken seriously but as a reader, i’ll still critique it. i still don’t understand how tf dale fell in love. i guess homie is just a master masochist. he’d fall in love with a dildo if it fucked his ass hard enough. i don’t know how charlotte fell in love either. i guess if her dog turned into a human, she would’ve fucked it too.
i can’t help but mourn what could’ve been a good femdom like if they wanted to go the romance route, it would’ve been so nice to see the development from dale fulfilling his duty to his conflict with falling in love with charlotte. it kinda just felt like someone turned off the lights and when they turned back on, suddenly both dale and charlotte were in love. also not to mention the shit ass ending with the marriage done in like two panels and then the random time skip such a waste

stone me i guess but i really don’t give a shit about mariarty’s revenge or her love story with alfie. maybe it’s because her backstory was half a chapter but i just didn’t connect with it, didn’t care and then the sudden romance between alfie and her. this manhwa is written really well but i just can’t get over the sudden romance between her and alfie. i get it, most of it was obscured so it could be revealed into one big mystery but because of that plot point, it doesn’t feel very genuine. it was like “oh and just so you guys know! they’re in love!” i would’ve been more interested if she was actually a cold hearted killer but no of course she had to love alfie and that’s why she hesitated. if she had just killed the mc by slicing her throat, i would’ve gave her her tens but of course she was in love and hesitated.
perhaps if this was written from mariarty’s pov, i would’ve cared more. i also don’t care that she wanted revenge on duke adler when it was HER country’s leader that said to protect the mana stone research shit and not their citizens. personally, i feel like it doesn’t make sense? like sure you’re mad at the enemy? but your leader literally sent your sister to her death by pulling troops out from protecting the citizens. so why are you not mad at him? seems a bit hypocritical. i’m not defending the previous duke but it’s like, homie your leader didn’t give a shit about you or your sister and that’s why the girl is dead lmao.
i do think a missed opportunity was writing out alfie’s character more. we didn’t really know him so i genuinely did not give a shit when he was revealed to be a cortina spy. maybe if we actually got to see more scenes with him, the betrayal would’ve hit harder but it was just one of those moments where i was like “oh shit? he’s a spy too?” ugh the story has been written really well but for some reason, this climax felt a little anticlimax. it’s still a good story but i hated the way ch 65-66 were written.
