ok i thiiink this is what’s going on:
little duke runs away to forest ends up with 2 other little kids and they run into some monsters, which shouldn’t be there in the first place. it seems as though the prince has placed them there to cause a commotion and make the duke look bad (not confirmed). i think the reason the duke has yet to say anything is because he is still in the forest looking for his son as well as killing the monsters so he hasn’t been able to head back yet ,,, sorry if that was confusing LOL

There's a lot of monster. Going back to inform them is basically suicide mission for the messenger. They need to be together for safety reason. And there's a lot of knight in the party plus they know that it's CP's plan. CP won't cause that much harm to nobles especially when they are in imperial palace. And I think why they don't really mentioned about informing them is because their priority is Claude and Duke's power rampaging.
Ooohhh I get it now, since they knew that it was the prince's plan, its not worth it to send a messenger since theres a huge chance that the messenger might die. Im not really convinced that the prince have the noble's well being in plan since I see him as an idiot lol but since going back risks their lives AND the kids life too, risking their lives to continue and ensuring the lives of the kids is the better option.
