i think it's because just like the nanny, freya was their for ellen since young so her affection for freya may have been less but the feeling of "friends of years" makes her feel guilty and she still doesn't know whether to fully trust our FL or Freya.. since Ellen had an uneasy feeling or seemingly knows that Freya had changed from before (when they were young).
