Tbf the best friend did overstep, so he has his own red flags like overstepping boundaries, the mc obviously likes someone else, their relationship rn is not any of his best friends business and he uses the excuse of wanting to protect him for intervening in their relationship, he needs to stop coddling MC period also its not mcs responsibility to make his best friend lose feelings for him in any way, thats something he needs to get over cuz MC is not going to like him anytime soon

I read some fucked up sht and there's an art in making trash MLs work. This story doesn't have it.
There's supposed to be one redeeming trait in the beginning. Just one.
We got to find out this guy is a rapist in chapter 1! And his freaky ways isn't lose behaviour with consenting partners but trapping unsuspecting victims and forcing them to go along unless the literally fight back hard enough.
Pair a guy like that with a MC that acts like he's 10 and it's fking uncomfortable to read.
