even if the compliments are genuine the fact they’re all focused on that one thing can be pretty taxing, especially if you’re working to be recognized for something else. Hiro’s younger sister probably had to deal with things unwanted attention and special treatment from others because of her appearance, and it’s likely at least some of her relationships were heavily influenced by the other party’s impression of her appearance as well. Just from the limited information that we’ve been given I can already imagine a couple reasons as to why she became a shut-in...it’s not actually that hard to understand
I think the point is that is wasn't just being called pretty. Both girls were being sexualized and treated like a piece of meat which is the issue. No file wants to be looked up and down on by a complete stranger and then he called cute. No girl wants to be called cute if it means that that's all guys think of you as and girls hate you for it. I personally like being called cute what it comes once in awhile by someone I trust and it's sincere. What both of the girls experienced is more like sexual harassment and it's comfortable at all.

Agreed. Even if they arent ok with it, its fine, but when they start blackmailing and doing some evil manipulation that really puts me off majorly. Sadly, its very common with korean creators :(
