the first part of the novel is still light-hearted and fun (kind of). it's the 2nd part that ends up taking a turn and turns up the angst. I think it's clear that we will be getting a happy ending, I'd be genuinely surprised if we didn't. but the angst you have to go through to get there gets kinda heavy. there's too much that happens to get into it but if u have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer

thgll is actually the only bl novel I've ever read since I mostly read baihe/gl novels but I get yr point both CEJ and LSY actually go through the horrors for various reasons, but it's all bc of the oncoming apocalypse and all that comes with it.

angst that comes from various timelines, CEJ's PTSD from being used as a child soldier and the yellow sea rift, and LSY's own past being subjected to human experimentation and waiting 8 years for CEJ to come back. I've actually only read a couple of random chapters of the manhwa but you guys have gotten that flashback of the kid that J saves right? that's LSY. There's a lot more that comes afterwards but it's honestly best experienced as you read along
