It just shows that Mildred isnt a superhuman. Firstly she wasn't even a mother in the first place. She took the responsibility of being the mother of 3 daughters. She did the best she could and I admire her for that. I understand Iris case here too. As a middle child I too constantly want my parent's attention. But you can see their relationship is healthy because instead of just brushing this off and calling it a child's tantrum, Mildred actually tried to talk it out with her.
