I think the author really messed up by portraying how he felt towards her. It is understandable him not showing affection because he was raised like that, this is a historical comic so it’s obvious that one character or 2 would be like this. “Family honor above all”, and that’s kinda of understandable giving the context of the comic. But, why he showed affection to Fake Cosette then??? It was because she resemble his former wife? It’s because he thought god gave him another chance to be a good parent? Life gave him another chance by taking care of his lover that was coldly killed by his wife family and after seeing her he resented? The justification doesn’t make sense, at all. I really hope they explain this better, and make him resent what he did, because in the comic he clearly cherish his daughter but just doesn’t know how to express himself.

This made me remember that one comic about that White Haired Girl getting raped and killed by her Blue haired husband that was actually in the influence of a drug but apparently I couldn't see it like that because the artist wasnt able to express it. And that the day of her execution it said that in the book he looked regretful and like stricken(?) Because he was still influenced by a drug. But in the webtoon he was smiling and look anything but regretful.

But yh it dont make sense how he could show affection to her other 'daughter' when he was neglectful with Kiera. I'm also wondering how he treated his youngest son, cuz if it was the same maybe Cosette really had something different or he's really just a total bitch of a father (HE IS A TOTAL BITCH OF A FATHER) but if he wasnt neglectful of his son but was only ever neglectful to his wonderful daughter (Kiera) than this some personal petty shit (cuz no matter what, she was your daughter you trashy ass lemon looking head)

Ya sis he showed too much affection for cosette that it seem tooOoOoO weird and something not right? Like how much blind can u be, treat a cutie pie honey bun with no with no experience of outside world and very obedient to u even though u 200% ignore like trash and treat a dam 20 something lady who came out of nowhere like a new born cat . even tho she resumbles his lover, it's been more than 25 years! how can ur love stay that long ? . . . i just don't understand even if u don't fall for others ur love fades unless u supernatural or something (like tomoe) but he HUMAN! Apparently, he didn’t give shit abt his son as well. I think the author just put a setting to start the novel, and didn’t explained why he did it, why the father was like that and the backstory of the father. I’m honestly a very meticulous person, so I do want to know about his side of the story as well, because it’s so ridiculous “I let my daughter get killed because it’s just the way I am” like??? If they explained like they did in the comic, or should I say they TRIED to explain, it would be awesome. I wouldn’t hate someone because he was raised in a toxic household and that’s why he let his wife and daughter be murdered, because he was “raised” to think that “The grand duke can’t show affection, the grand duke can’t interfere in things that are not related to our household” and so on. And, it does not make sense if he knew about cossete being fake then why???? Because AGAIN, in the comic literally wants his daughter affection back, so wtf happened then???? If there is something that I hate the most is garbage setting that are just there for the sake of the story...
