Dropped this cause Nozomi's past with his dad felt wildly inappropriate to include in the way they did. That's the kind of storyline that does not belong in a story like this and the depictions and descriptions of the abuse were super uncomfortable. This shit needs TW's and I don't use that label lightly

While I agree it’s rough to read and see, it did have a purpose. Nozumi’s abuse is what led Tats to be so instrumental in his recovery as a person. He had this boy tell him to fight hard, so he clung to that, until they could meet again. It’s also why, despite being Yukuza, when offered the chance to settle his “debt” with Nozumi, he refused and offered himself instead. Telling Nozumi later that he’d take that weight for him. It’s a rough story, but there’s a lot of beauty in it too.
However, anyone with that kind of past would definitely need a trigger warning. Agree agree agree.

I don't think that sort of storyline is intrinsically bad, I just felt the way it was done in this was tasteless. You can discuss and depict trauma without outright showing it. I felt it didn't belong in a story like this as it was weirdly jovial in some aspects and then showed too much of a child being assaulted.
Another series, Boy Meets Maria, also shows too much of that but the tone of that manga is more serious, and it comes with content warnings.
But thank you for sharing your perspective as I couldn't finish reading this I can't say much one way or another on how it plays out, I just felt it wasn't done in a respectful enough way from the start, but I'm glad that you found beauty in it

Thank you for taking the time to read my opinion and respond. :) I have a pretty dark background, so I think I’m a little more numb to certain depictions. I’m glad to see it from a different prospective. I just finished Nagahama to Be, or Not to Be. Same author, same beautiful artwork, but the story is sweet. Not a red flag in sight!

Lotta people bitter in the comments about how Naguru treats Herapi and I don't really get it? There were a couple times where it felt like he was being mean, but always in a teasing way (like when he chose Towa's flower over Herapi's) but he clearly loves him??? They just have a different way of expressing love but he told the landlady that he's his family, he loved how sweet Herapi is, he went for the ride with him when they borrowed the bike, he took him to his secret spot, he told him things he didn't tell others. There's so much love there. I get if you were unsatisfied with the reciprocation but you can't say that it isn't there just because it's done differently.
As for unanswered questions, it did bug me a bit but y'know sometimes you don't need all the details to appreciate the present. Sure we don't know who Towa's biological family is, but we know who his family is now. I do think they could have expanded upon the kids on the island just to flesh out his character better, I just assume that he took care of the kids from his community but it would've been ideal to just provide a little more info like "they're his siblings" "they're orphans" etc. Since he wanted a family so badly, I guess that implies he didn't have one.
Also people saying "he only got with Herapi because he wanted a family!" ? Okay? He wanted love and a place to belong so he got with Herapi who he loves and feels he belongs with lol
Sorry I ranted I just love this story a lot and even though it's not perfect, I think to say the love isn't fully reciprocated just isn't true

I appreciate your comment. I definitely saw love in their interactions. Some people are just...more snarky? Less overtly affectionate? And it's the meaningful acts that really matter. Like, I think it means the world to Herapi that he loves his baby so much. People underestimate how attractive it can be to have someone so devoted to you AND your kid. He was buckling in for a situation that makes a lot of people run for the hills.

I think it's a really weird thing to have SA from the love interest and from strangers and treat it completely differently. When the love interest does it it's fine cause he loves him but the strangers do it and it's wrong! Bad! Like wtf? Weird ass double standards, rape is rape doesn't matter if there's "love" behind the intentions. If you're going to portray it as bad, portray it as bad all the time. Blah blah blah fiction is fiction sure whatever but at least do a decent job writing it then? Don't acknowledge within your story that your main love interest is a rapist as a silly joke

I love it so much please they're so fucking ridiculous I absolutely love Rika he's such a weird lil freak of a beautiful man. My favorite character, he's so odd but really sweet and then immediately weird as fuck. 10/10 for Rika.
Also the rest of them are also so stupid, this is just pure idiocy and I love it. Haji and Curry holding hands and going "Yep it's the BL trope where everyone becomes a couple at the same time" also when they all were circled around and were like "there are 0 downsides to anal sex!" fantastic writing, just all around bullshit

I thought it was sweet but there were a few parts that gave me a headache cause I couldn't figure out what was going on lol ik I'm not stupid but this made me feel like I am.
Also, I went in expecting to cry cause everyone was saying how it had them sobbing but I didn't even tear up :"") and I'm a pretty sensitive person, but ig everyone is affected differently by different things. I'll probably read it again at a later date and maybe I'll be less confused then and maybe I'll actually cry lol

the art is so pretty and I'm so obsessed with the characters and the character designs. I need more of this I need to see them fall in love and adopt Meguru. Them cheering her on at the relay on their own unique way dysfunctional family therapy is such a perfect name like yeah these 3 are all so dysfunctional and they're perfect together also this author knows how to make shit that seems simple on the surface but then hits hard with those emotional moments or the inner workings of people and their complex feelings. I fucking love it and I love this story sm
I don't get all the hate lmao this was cute? I didn't like the shit with the director and this isn't the best thing I've ever read but they're a cute couple and the art is good. Kinda generic plot but again, the couple is sweet and they're cute so I'm not sure why all the strong hatred. No accounting for taste I suppose
It is goofy that both Hajime and his coworker are listed as "straight" in their character profile despite both getting with guys lmao like I don't think that's how being straight works.... Heteroflexible I guess
It's mostly because a lot of yaoi don't like labeling or stating their lead guys as "gay" or "homosexual" (try thinking of some yaoi that do that it's hard and even here it is just heavily implied neither characters ever mention that they're gay) they just have them have gay sex. Sometimes the gay sex is excused as "I'm not into guys ew I'm just into male person A and like having sex with male person A so really male person A is the exception not the rule."
Nah ik, it definitely is common. I actually can list a decent amount that have them state/realize that they're gay cause I prefer those over the "gay for you" trope. I still think it's goofy that this calls them straight, especially considering their partners are listed as bi/gay lol
