It’s so frustrating when it takes half the story in a manga/webtoon for one simple problem to be resolved. In this story, a lot of the problems sort themselves out after a few chapters. Thank God.
I find this story frustrating because for the most part because it doesn't make sense precisely for the reason you gave. The choices they make seem so out of character. Ktbn. Mmkay.

Yeah, I didn't quite understand that myself but I was thinking about that and what I think Zaizen meant was that he believes love and affection are synonymous with obsession and the desire to monopolize. His reasons may have to do with something personal or to do with Kiriya himself.

exactly my thought. In my real world, I know many people like that but they are professional whores. Of course, they say they really love someone, but never be one person and untrustable. Fiction is fiction but this type of plot is out of the world.
