I'm pretty sure the friend wants to start a war so Henley won't be King, but Emperor. Henley was content with being only a King, but he fell in love with Navier, and after seeing how insulted she is, after being the perfect woman and empress, he decides that he will do as his friend wants and start a war.
The friend's plan could be to make Trashta (stupid, evil and commoner) Empress so the empire will lose a main piece (intelligent, benevolent and royal Navier)
Sovietshu will find himself with an Empress that is unable to help him like Navier did, so he will end up losing his empire to Henley.
And the friend will discover to everyone how the baby is a bastard (second child from the noble that is the first child's father) that the emperor is infertile (I'm sure Navier will get pregnant in a second) and that he is a stupid man that threw away the best Empress the Empire had ever seen.

He's cleverly egging Trashta to steal the empress' position --- which worked out well. Because Sovieshit got the idea to divorce Navier and appoint Trashta as Empress to protect his child's social status.

This way, Heinrey will have an opportunity to take Empress Navier away from them without having to directly interfere.

He basically set them up, for them to trip over themselves in the end.

It’s because he’s trying to get info on her or something and expose her in the end. all the info he’s getting from rashta is going to heinley to. I’m pretty sure they are making some plan to take down trashta and so bitch.

if you look at what he does carefully, you'll see that he isn't truly helping her out in the long-term - though she is benefiting from his 'help' now, he literally is setting her up for future ruin lmao.
