so the party arc happens after 2-3 arcs after this. it's the summer break after they get back to school from the retreat
Jiho's family is having a big important party and Jiho has to attend but he hates going. Chunyoung will also go but he will be with Eun Hyung and Jooin is going but will be with his family leaving Jiho bored and alone plus he hates parties. Dani feeling like Jiho has given her so much and helped her so much feels like she should help him in some way and offers to go with him basically as his date. on the day of the party Jiho picks Dani up in a limo and cute and awkward moments happen. Dani worried if she will be any help for Jiho and he tells her that she doesn't have to do anything her being there is enough for him she's like a breath of fresh air...essentially he feels better when she is around and if anyone tried to say something to her tell them he wanted her there and that she shouldn't mind any of the people are party. then Dani rests her cheek on his hand and he gets shocked and she is like woops sorry you were being so nice and comforting and he says are you always flirtatious when someone is like that to you? and says she always gives him the wrong idea. when you do stuff like that I get my silly hopes up. and Dani is like you have silly hopes? and he's like why wouldn't I but I won't tell you what they are. then he says something really unexpected he tells her that he wants his birthday present today and basically won't ask her for anything again. he asks her to treat him today like it's his birthday and to be sweet to him. and then he will give up his "silly hopes" she accepts the request and he smiles really happy and satisfied and Dani remarks that she didn't know he could make a face like that. and then they hold hands in the car. they go to a fancy dress shop and Jiho buys her an expensive makeover and tells the shop owner who is a family friend that Dani is his girlfriend and treats her like that and Dani freaks out and he kind of has to beg her to agree to it so she sort of gives in. while Dani is dressing we get worlds saddest monologue about Jiho worrying about his feelings being so obvious. the woman tells him he can't hide it it's very clear he is in love with her. but the woman thinks Jiho has never looked more like his age than now. but Jiho tells her to forget Dani after this day it's over. he worries if he will regret this day because he's tempting himself with something he can't have and it will only cause him pain.Dani comes out in her clothes and Jiho is like smitten and compliments her but Dani doesn't believe him and gets weird about it. at the party they don't pretend they're dating but they stay close and he is possessive and protective of her the whole night. at some point he asks her to Dani about they don't tragically when she is taken away by Ban Yeoreong. later on at The end of the party after other stuff has happened. Dani overheard Jiho talking to Chunyoungs brother (who Jiho is afraid of) and he is clearly distressed and asking him for help because he's never wanted something(Dani) so bad in his entire life and he would do anything to have it. he has never wanted anything before and has always been a good son doing what is told and just giving up on lots of things normal people have. but he wants this and he doesn't know what to do. you can tell he is so heartbroken and then Chunyoungs brother tells him to give it up and cut off those feelings basically heartless advice and Jiho listens:( and later Dani wants to leave and she's weird around Jiho after knowing all that. I can't remember the rest but later chapters you just see again and again how much Jiho loves her and it's just really heartbreaking !! but his monologues about his love for her hurts so much you should read that chapters yourself it's in the 200s and on

typo he asks Dani to dance but she gets taken away by Ban Yeoreong tragically and they never dance

we see Jiho's love for Dani at the arc after the retreat, the party arc, the kidnapping arc, save classmate arc, boyfriend arc, I know there is more but I haven't gotten that far yet

I feel so bad for Jiho :(((

I knowww me too! I was a huge Chunyoung fan but after reading the novel Jiho has every piece of my heart and support. his character is very tragic and alone. he keeps things to himself and hides his feelings because of the way he was raised. when we get glimpses of his life at home it's just very sad with the restrictions and lack of freedom he has. Jiho being raised as the heir to the company does everything he is told to.do but Dani came into his life and changed everything for him. he wants to help Dani and is always worried about her and looking for the best way to support her while understanding her and her boundries. he's always around in really significant moments for her. you can tell he is hopelessly in love with her but he wants her to be happy but he struggles when that happiness isn't with him. also his POVs in the novel are some of the most romantic tragic lines I've read. I swoon!! especially the moment when he says how he doesn't care if everyone else says they couldn't pick her out in a crowd -for him she stands out and she is all he can see!!!!

Well this is sad, at first i was really rooting for chunyeoung but now i don't know!!!!!

I know I totally get why you're conflicted even now I get conflicted because her relationship with both boys is so different and special in each of their own ways. definitely read the novel for some more perspective plus I feel like the novel translation conveys some of the conversations so much more different than in the manhwa. I don't want to change people's minds about liking Jiho as one of the MLs but rather hope they like him as a character because he's so amazing and one of the more tragic characters aside from Dani

I think its harder for her because she basically fall back in love with the same guy she dumped, the same guy who's in the relationship with her when she encounter the problem.
Guilt, anxious, doubt, confuse its not easy feelings to deal with.

oh I agree I really do think she should go to therapy or at least talk to someone because it's not even just him she doesn't want to date it's anyone period. she has a lot of feelings to work through because it's really something within herself she needs to fix :( it's sad that now they can't even be friends tho

this manhwa doesn't follow the novel? i was reading it but it's still in the early chapters in translation so I didn't know they changed it

ohhh wait you're talking about the novel in novel lol my bad and yeah I think it's strange but she said the novel was discontinued before Chloe ended up with anyone which I find interesting. that means the novel neglected a very important detail that Chloe is actually a boy and was forced to use magic to keep himself before puberty which is so huge to overlook! like wtf why did it change or why was it left out?
