You missed my point. Everyone knows this relationship is abusive. No sane person comes out and thinks this relationship is healthy. NK is crying almost every single chapter. SH kills a person and has psychotic tendencies. You don't see sparkly and floral background. But just because the story explores an abusive relationship doesn't mean the author is idealizing or glossing over it. It's a dark psychological drama and we the audience are supposed to see Nakyum's gradual mind break.
If you want to see a problematic series that glosses over rape, go to omegaverses, or that one popular manga about two popular actors. The rapist is portrayed to be "good" because every time he appears there are rainbow and sparkles and we are supposed to just forget that he raped the mc. The MC's post-rape suffering isn't portrayed at all. When the tone of a fictional work is inconsistent with its content, the fictional work is problematic. I have yet to see this with PoTN. There is no comedy. There is no feel-good moment.
Basically: compare omegaverse and Killing Stalking or Harada's stories. You will see why the former is so repulsive while the latter is well-received. There shouldn't be any limit as to what a work of fiction can explore. It is how the subject is explored and the message it sends that matter more. I will hate on PoTN if it goes down the omegaverse/If you hate me so road and turns Seungho into a kind-hearted guy with a sob backstory. But until then, I see no problems with it.
ok lol i don't want to talk exact phrasing, since saying this story is about rape isn't entirely correct either. It is about an abusive/ toxic relationship, and rape is part of it, so haters should just get over it and stop talking about rape already.
Chapter 49 showcases SH's soft feelings for NK and confirms our suspicion that NK has lost his self-esteem. It opened up a lot of ways for the story to develop now. I love that it keeps its dark vibe while still showcasing romantic development. SH is still a psycho who's trying to figure out his feelings for NK, while NK is broken and succumbs to the pleasure. Sexual attraction is the ONLY thing that makes sense right now. How can NK love SH when SH treats him like shit LMAO

The original used "gou xue" which is a slang term for cliche, stupid melodrama. I think it's mostly used with romance drama. Mo and He Tian were exasperated because Zhengxi's protecting Jian Yi from the duck seems straight out of a typical trashy romance C-drama LOL
The translation lost the nuance because it was too verbatim. Mo's "You didn't fucking mention it earlier!" should have been translated as "Why didn't you fucking say it earlier?" or "You should have said it earlier." The former sounds like Mo was doubting Tian while Mo was actually just worried and wanted Tian to have said so sooner.

in the raws it was said as a exclaimation though — no question mark at the end and he never really says he ‘should have’, it still comes across just fine in this translation and sounds like he’s worried to me. I’m sure it didn’t lose its nuance with people. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ no worries, honey.

the raws used "不早说“ which is usually understood as like a complaint that someone didn't say something sooner. It is usually used in a question or in an exclamation.
The translation is correct, but I think in English when we want to complain that someone didn't say something sooner, we usually say "Why didn't you say it sooner?" or "You should have said it sooner!" It's a little bit different in Chinese, where that one phrase can be understood as a complaint already.
Good to know that it came across fine to you. I was a little bit bothered because it sounded kinda awkward to me :)

no, I’m not the translator lol. but I do have friends who are fluent in chinese that did a quick translation to me when I was desperate for a quick one.
I understand what you mean and where you’re coming from, it’s understandable that sometimes translation have to slightly change things up from the original to get the same understanding, but in this case this doesn’t seem like it changes the nuance to me where it makes a huge difference. to me it still comes across as a worried/angry/shock complaint similar still to something like “why didn’t u say it sooner?”, saying “you didn’t fucking mention it earlier!” still comes out as a shocked angered complaint bc to mo he’s a little upset that he tian kept it to himself since he tian never gave off that his hand was ‘hurt’ or said anything, he’s simply stating/explaining why he didn’t know beforehand bc he tian kept his ‘hurt’ hand to himself. it still comes across worried and guilty for not having noticed it earlier which is what he tian milks out with his “i was waiting for you to notice..” lol. I think if it was coming across as doubting him (which ironically he should have considering he tian was faking lmao), it would have been something like “your hand isn’t broken, if it was, you would’ve said something earlier” or “BUT you never said it earlier” but it’s not, it’s just simply explaining a fact that he didn’t mention it earlier which is why mo couldn’t have known, not exactly doubt. hope that makes sense?? and I haven’t seen anyone else mention that it looks to be that he doubted him which is why I wanted to assure your worries, bb . especially with the actions mo is doing as well and the worried sweat going down his face as he said it, he was clearly worried (and gullible, he never doubted he tian for even a sec ) and people know that he was really freaking out for him
even the whole sentence “你他妈不早说!” if you put in any translation service (although always not as accurate), will come out as him saying something along the lines of “you didn’t say so earlier!”, one even says “you didn’t tell me the damn thing!” on baidu. ultimately I think it still comes across fine for most people so it’s okay, bb. :) hope nothing I’ve said has offended you, I don’t want any feelings to be hurt (just in case cause some tones can be lost across the internet I feel)...
