In the novel, it was all narated according to Wei Ying's POV. So, if it's about the revelation of what Wen Chao and the gang did to him, it's more likely that it was only told when he returned(by Wei Ying himself) or maybe not at all.. Just that they knew that he experienced and obtained something. Apparently, Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan don't have any idea of his whereabouts. If they learned that he was thrown out in the Burial Mounds that time, more likely that Lan Zhan have gone there even by knowing that no one can get out from that place. He's a risk taker too. They won't waste their time wondering whether he's alive or not if Wen Chao told them.

I don't think he wants to attract more attention than necessary. There might be very few S-rankers in comparison to A-ranks. Obviously there would be more B and C-ranks, but being an A will get him more opportunities for sneaky operations (in my mind).
The wall is tier 5 magic and he used tier 5 magic to break it, therefore making him an A-rank. He is capable of using higher tier magic but he held back because it will bring too much attention and be a bother for his disguise.
I think I'm gonna drop this partnering characters without character/relationship build up for the sake of a grand plot twist is not my taste. It's like going for an open ending with a very bad after taste. Please ignore this comment if you don't like it no need to agree with me. I am simply voice out my disappointment.
