Sooooo **the mistress and the emperor decided to hold the last test (the physical in the beginning) to see which contestant was fertile and chose someone who couldn’t have kids so that eventually he could get rid of the empress on the grounds that she couldn’t have kids so the mistress could become empress.** fast forward and the Mistress gets into a fight with the Emperor because she sees him falling in love with the Empress and he sees that she never loved him and he stops seeing her. A while later The Mistriss demands a fertility test and the empress knows something’s up so she goes to the emperor and as she’s fighting with him about why the mistress would be so set on doing this, she figures it out and is heartbroken (lots of stuff happens before that so this was just the breaking point) the mistress becomes the emperors concubine. However by the time this happens the Emperor refuses to see her. Fast forward a little and she tries to assasinate the Empress (AGAIN!) but this time she’s found guilty and is beheaded.
Oh also, after the mistress becomes the imperial concubine (who’s purpose is to have the emperors children) the Empress gifts her with perfume that makes her infertile as a little revenge
