The protagonist took the easy route to success aka "plagiarism from the future" but what the time machine is trying to do is not to make him 100% perfect at replicating future-Itsuki's style as he *thinks* but to have him understand he has to write his own manga, and not copy hers because now he is stuck in the mindset of only copying her and trying to guess her ideas as he sees her as perfection and not a real person with her own problems.
He's not a bad guy as he feels remorse for plagiarism and he wants to prevent Itsuki's death (a mystery for now) because honestly 99% of the people would've taken the easy route (it's just life) but the thing is that he has to learn to be a better person and a better author on his own.
While Makima is a villain (it seems so at least), she's epic af and I'm super curious about her origin and motivation. (is it just a simple "rule the world" or whatever)
Who is the ML here??? I hate when I support the ship and author doesn't make it canon and makes another character ML. As far as I've heard, there are three candidates: Oscar the duke, the Prince and I've heard about some king of neighboring country appears in the novel later on. Can someone spoil me who will she be with at the end?
