Nah man I think that's why her last request to him was for him to give up his own life. By him killing himself in her command, she got revenge for her best friend. She was probably thinking that once the duke died, the emperor's power and influence would suffer too (since he was the one who ordered the duke to kill her). For all we know, she could've been conspiring with the empress dowager to get the 3rd prince the throne. The novel just described how she acted, not her actual feelings. Sis secured the bag and avenged her friend in one elaborate plan
