Ohhh. Yeah the translations are bad. If I read the chapters they translated out of context, I wouldn't understand what's happening at all.

Even if they did take it out of google translate they could’ve edited it and made it sound at least decent but they didn’t even do that

Well I haven’t read the novel or the raws so I don’t have the insight you do but I didn’t think phoenix did a whole lot in those first few chapters to defend or help the mc in anyway...
so I’m still unsure of him right now, but if the future is as you said I’ll be his fan to

no I really think that phoenix is fucking twisted. He may be the type of hero who is just out to look for fun fights. How tf does a best friend not notice the pain and suffering of their companion??? He didn't even try to fucking help. He's literally trash.

I imagine it's like the friend who notices you aren't being the best you can but doesn't so anything because they low-key agree you should go, but not in a malicious way? It's sorta like when you have an alcoholic friend or family member. You can tell them to stop drinking and the like, but eventually they have to decide to fix it. Sometimes, it takes an intervention or a certain circumstance to trigger the motivation.


If he's excited for MC to finally be living up to his potential and genuinely happy he's making trusted allies, I'm looking forward to his character.

I'm sorry I just got finished with a dumb essay for a class so I can't really explain why I hate phoenix but it's a good reason XDD The MC wasn't even a burden and he actually contributed the most with his buffs and debuffs. Idk I just think it's so shady that phoenix didn't even try to stand up for his friend. If he knew about the MC's full potential and skill, couldn't he have atleast supported him or defended him against the shithead?

I didn't read the novel, so I can't really give you all the detail, but the spoils says that the reason why he doesn't interfere much was became the MC didn't want him to.

Also, because Phoenix wants to but can't because he promised MC he will not tell anyone how powerful MC or else it would reveal MC's master's identity.

Read the spoil alert, Phoenix was all in approving MC new group and friends. He even help hid the fact that MC was a floor boss for the demon king.

Also, somewhere in volume 3 I think? He cheered for MC to win in the tag tournament.

Black Magic was already a big no no in that world, and for a hero title person to keep on saying that Black Magic is powerful which it shouldn't be since "human" cannot wield powerful Black magic is weird. Unless the human was taught by a powerful Black Magic Mage which is "suspicious" because only evil mage uses Black Magic as well as Demon.

Super! Can't wait for the manga to reach that point!

He doesn’t have to spill the beans on the guys master to support his best friend, the people in this world are ignorant on the benefits that black magic has in battle only because it’s their opponents that feel the effect.

Phoenix saying, “guys stop it” doesn’t improve anything because for the people in the group the only reason he’s defending the Mc is because their childhood friends.
If he wanted to help the mc as well as calm down that group setting, he could ask the mc about the different spells he can cast and their effect, and after each battle get the bigger picture on just how hard our mc was working and what he’s doing to help the team.

So the next time when people talk about how the mc does nothing for the group Phoenix doesn’t have to half heartedly defend him saying “nooo stop, don’t be mean :(” but has clear points, and reasons as to why he’s a necessary member of the group.

If they still don’t believe him, they should get one of the shittier members volunteer to try and fight while under one or two of his spells.
None of this gives away the guys master.

And this is why I currently don’t believe or like Phoenix, because he defended his supposed best friend in a way that suggests he doesn’t believe in the mc either....

I agree with you completely. What really annoys me though was the fact that he's still in a group with the losers that kicked out his friend. Why is he still with them? He's a freaking hero! If he ditches them others would flock to have the chance of being in his group! His rank might drop for a bit while things get stable again but would expect it would be worth getting away from those bullies.
I haven't been reading super closely so maybe I missed something that explained that he can't do that for some reason. But until I get a valid explanation as to why he didn't ditch the idiots my opinion of Phoenix is that he's a pushover that's not willing to do what it takes to stand up for a friend. Some hero he is.
