To the ppl who think mc is pretty its really bc of the artist’s art style tbh. Tho i will say she is a more plain looking character compared to other characters, and it was her family who beat her up all the time so ppl who saw her probably only remember her image in bruises. She let the words of her family affect her bc what else is she supposed to do? She grew up in that environment. Id say shes actually more average looking than ugly when u compare what is considered “pretty” in the manhwa. I do think she is really pretty in my eyes bc of the art style tho. I think this manhwa does a better job of drawing a plain jane than most manhwa who say their fl’s are ugly
Wait why is everyone hating on the teacher?? He even said it himself that he was at fault for starting off on the wrong foot. If you’re actually reading and paying attention, hes trying to teach mc to go further and try to live life for himself too. The teacher can see how broken mc is and is trying to not just teach him swordsmanship but also help him grow mentally. Didnt he also mention that practicing the sword is also about being smart?
You guys are all too quick to hate whats on the surface, not even realizing how great his writing is. I dont say this for everyone but i do feel like a lot of manhwa with bad writing has really dumbed peoples ability to read deeper into a story.
Im really curious about the teacher’s backstory from what has been hinted. I’m really looking forward to seeing what more he has to offer along with the servant as well

I don’t think it has to do with “not getting it” I think most of the comments are people who just don’t like his personality and I personally don’t like him either but neither does MC so chances are as the plot progresses we’ll gain understanding into his reasons for treating Boris the way he is, and as Boris gets stronger he’ll probably like Walnut more and so will we, but as for now he’s just a pretty big dick head. Probably because we’ve seen Boris undergo nothing but difficulty and tragedy and all of a sudden here’s this guy who doesn’t know anything about him pushing him. I’m sympathetic to Boris and as a reader I understand he needs to be strong but this Walnut asshole can fuck off, give me a new teacher type.
Also just to add on, the greater the writing the more likely people will form stronger opinions on characters and plot choices. Not everyone likes the same tropes and Walnut is the biggest trope I’ve ever seen. Not trying to be cocky or look down on the author but I really doubt I’ll be surprised by his backstory I’m sure it’ll be either very similar to Boris’ or another retelling of a tragedy that taught him to value life by living life blah blah blah.
Why are you acting like ppl cant dislike a character? The fact that ppl dislike him means that this story is written well so ppl are still allowed to enjoy it despite disliking a character. You deem ppl to be shallow while YOU'RE being shallow too. Ppl can express dislike about a character especially ones like the teacher since he is unnecessarily cruel to Boris.

The point is that he's an asshole who kicks those that are already down. You might say it's bc he has a lesson to teach but no, it's just bc he's an asshole. Mind u, at the start of their training, even he questions his own actions. He knows he's being unnecessarily cruel. So ppl disliking him for that is only a natural conclusion. Maybe we'll stop disliking him as the story continues but as of now, he's still far from being a likeable character. You're acting as if ppl's opinions will always stay the way they are regardless of what happens. Ppl judge by what's shown, and what's currently being shown is that he's an asshole. Even if he has something to teach or even if he's coming from somewhere, he's still being cruel and even the character knows that. And ppl are allowed to dislike characters like that bc one character being an asshole doesnt immediately make the story terrible. You're over here acting as if ppl disliking the teacher is them saying this story is bad when it's not. Criticism of a character's very obvious cruel actions is a given. You're acting like ppl are never allowed to do that.
