Are they not still married since they refer to each other as husband and wife? The only indication of them being “divorced” is the husband saying “we’ll get married” which could just mean renewing the vows that married couples do after being married for many years
In earlier chapters, I can’t pinpoint exactly in which one (I can’t remember), the shitty ex-husband says that they’ve been divorced for a while now, they’ve just been living together because he came running back to her after he racked up debt under her name. Hence the reason she’s working all these jobs and trying to pay off the debt in order for them to get remarried because he promised her they will after she pays it off. He’s a lying piece of shit tho, he just wants her to pay off the debt he created all while he cheats on her. He literally just uses her and even said to her face to refer to each other as husband/wife at home only while he goes around claiming he’s single behind her back.
Tbh I read it all and still don’t remember a clear divorce statement whether in words or document in the story. It really doesn’t make sense to me why they would have needed to get divorced especially with the FL’s personality that’s been attached to him for years as well as the husband’s personality that still views her like she’s his
Ahh I see now, I had to reread the chapters very thoroughly lmfao. It was a super brief one-sided convo that’s why I don’t remember it. There isn’t much context to the backstory behind it hence why it wasn’t memorable. It confused me cause every other chapter t they clearly call each other by husband and wife in the first couple of chapters. The FL also openly talks to people she works with saying she has a husband hence why it kept confusing me
Yeah I agree! It is confusing because it’s mentioned so briefly and almost as if in a passing conversation that had no real significance, yet it was such a crucial detail lol. Either way I hope that she realizes soon that he’s no good for her and is just draining the life out of her!

I genuinely can’t tell who the target audience is because it’s clearly not for men but is written like it would be to a degree. But on the other hand, most women wouldn’t like this either. It’s one thing for a ML to be toxic but loving towards the FL, but this guy is manipulative, abusive, and nasty towards the FL and actively narrates that he doesn’t love her and feels it’s a chore.
Obviously, this was intended to be for women, given the josei tag, but the storyline sure isn’t acting like it
I wish they would delve more into how his feelings developed for her before her death and how he felt during the years they were apart. It’s barely being touched upon, but I feel like that is an important thing to just gloss over. Maybe it’s coming in future chapters
