Okay I posted this in response to people’s comments but this is what I think is going on but if I’m wrong oops:
Police are looking for drug trafficking ring and thought that uke was involved (which he is—by accident). So cops came in to question him about seeing anyone unknown and seme shows up and says that the uke has been in town for a while and isn’t suspicious. Thing is, the seme is actually involved in the drug trafficking and was trying to get the cops away from the shop since the drug traders had hidden the drugs in bags of coffee, which the uke had gotten instead of his actual coffee beans (which is why seme didn’t drink the coffee—I’m assuming that he thought it might’ve been laced with drugs). Seme shows up later that night because he needs to get the drugs back from the uke and he offers to pay big bucks for the bags of “coffee”. Uke was smart and declined, only asking for the amount of the coffee that he ordered and didn’t receive. The uke did this because he realized the seme was involved in the drug trading and knew that if he accepted the checks, then the seme would have killed him (and he still might—we don’t know at this point). So now they’re at a tense standstill because the seme and uke both know that each other know what’s happening. Seme seems entertained by the Uke’s quick wits.
