I've never seen mental illness with depression and/or anxiety disorders portrayed so well . Its agonzing, cruel and confronting but it REAL. it doesn't romanticise it. To everyone that has or does struggle with mental illness. Thankyou for being strong enough to make it into another year. Things really do get better, trust me
The more you love, the more love you have to give. It's the only feeling we have which is infinite. Just like the eternity of death
I feel like the way Alex's character was depicted was tragic, cruel, gentle and twisted all at once. An earily realistic depiction that's hard to achieve through writing. I'll never say that murder is 'okay' nor will I ever commit it myself, but dear god I feel like I understood exactly why Alex thought and did what he did. Allbeit extreme.
*I will be addressing Yuji with They/them pronouns for this** I think a lot of people are misunderstanding the message of the story.
Unfortunately, Japan is not as progressive in terms of gender and sexuality, thus, majority of the people there lack knowledge about the lgbt community and transexuality ect that people in other countries can easily learn and access. Yuji is a canon trans/queer character but struggles to explain it to EVEn THEMSELF because they don't have the sufficient knowledge, and, don't know that what they are feeling is an actual REAL, VALID and widley experienced thing.
I get the frustration and anger in how the ending played out, but in all seriousness, this is sadly a very realistic ending for many many people in the lgbt community both past and present around the world. Many people sadly have to live in the gender they were born in or pretend to be the sexuality theyre not, simply because of the pure societal pressure on them and how difficult it would make their life to face all the trouble, pain, judgment and criticism.
Unfortunately, many people put themselves 2nd in this case and instead work to achieve happiness in their biological gender. Which is a terrible thing. However terrible and frustrating it is, that is sadly what happens a lot of the time. Y
uji being 'comfortable in their biological gender and accepting it' in the end was slightly lost in translation. usually we understand 'accept' to have positive connotations, but in this case, it had slightly more negative connotations. Moreso, the message being conveyed is that Yuji chose to accept the way they felt but saw no other way to solve it (sadly) and hence tried to build their own happiness up around it instead of being sad. They 'gave up' on their mental gender. Its really, really sad.
Im terrible with words but i hope this makes at least some sense

i likes this way to much already ┗( T﹏T )┛
