-the reason she has the star maiden first is because she wanted to test out to see if there are any side effects that would hurt emi
-the reason the star maiden is a boy is because she was physically and sexually abused all her life and when pina took her body she was in her mind like remi was, so she was forced to witness her body be used for evil and pleasure, she couldn’t stand it and fled to the spirit world and when remi found her and offered to make them her child she asked to be a boy so she would never have to go through that trauma again and sincerely wanted to be a boy with no memory of what she went through.
-also in the novel all the boys give a one on one apology (losers) and they are basically all in love with her (including her brother) and just wanted to either intentionally pull her down to there statue, make her an emotional reck and then manipulate her into liking them, or wanted to believe she was that bad because they idolized her and toppling her would make her just as bad as them(again, losers)
