I can understand Kurihara as well as Kawase. When i was in grade school and junior high, I want to maintain my position because everyone is expecting me. since they know i'm incredible outside (though i really dont want it anymore inside), I have to meet their expectation. But afterwards when i'm in senior high, i gave up. I confronted my parents and said i'm tifed to them. Unexpectedly, they just said " do what you want. " I did what I want and graduated with honors that I dont expect. I learned that its fun to study if you just enjoy and feeling it than put a lot of efforts because the pressure is weighing your shoulders all the time and there are people that somehow waiting for their expectation to be met by you. I freed myself from gloomy part of me.
