This manwha was… a rollercoaster.
The way it made me relate to Dahye (minus the brother part) and sympathize with her, the way I shed a few tears for her and felt so bad for her, I’m just so glad she was able to get her happy ending in the end.
As a manwha in the psychological genre, I’d say the author did a good job on knowing how to write and handle mental illness and making the characters (some) human-like.
I have to give it to the artist Face Park for drawing some of the most insane looking panels and the creativity/emotional turmoil they were able to express through colors, compositions and expressions really popped off.
The rating of this manwha doesn’t give it justice — but then again, I can see why it was rated so low for how some of the scenes were extremely disturbing to the reader, especially how Dowoon (her brother) treated her because of his worsening schizophrenia.
The whole family, mainly the mother, was so damn infuriating and frustrating to deal with, sometimes I could feel Dahye’s anger through the screen. The mother never listened to her daughter until the end, even when her own son literally slashed her face, she still couldn’t believe her son had totally gone insane. And that is so messed up (for lack of a better word) but also sad to see. This was mostly caused by the grandma and her superstitious tendencies but also the misfortunes the mother had to go through during her pregnancies.
Unfortunately, only the father was redeemable gradually going through the story. It was pretty nice seeing as how he became more lenient and defendant on Dahye as time went on. Ngl, I would be lying if I didn’t feel kind of content when he beat Dowoon’s ass the first time. Considering it was due to Dowoon’s schizophrenia that he acted this way, it was kinda excessive to abuse him, and honestly, the parents should’ve gotten him the treatment he needed way earlier had they listened to Dahye’s words.
As for the side characters, I wish they had more involvement in the story, especially towards the end.
I wanted to see Ga-eun and/or Yoo-Beom rushing to Dahye’s aid (they already did, but it’s a different situation) and just them having more interactions about what happened in that house, to be more fleshed out other than being labeled as ‘Dahye’s bestie’ and ‘Dahye’s rich boyfriend’. It was kind of disappointing there weren’t more POVs of the side characters and what they thought, their actions, etc. It was mostly from Dahye’s perspective. The point was only to show her and her family’s side I guess.
I also wished Dahye told her boyfriend about what her brother did to her. To him, it was probably just a really vague message that yeah he’s insane yaddy yadda, aside from that, he doesn’t really know what the brother did to her.
It would give me the biggest closure if the author decided to put more chapters or panels into the ending other than a tiny time-skip.
To be honest, it would’ve been really great if they added a chapter or two after the whole attempted murder ordeal. To me, the ending would’ve been more satisfying had some loose ends been tied, like how the brother literally came onto Dahye and some of his actions were kind of glossed over. (If I’m making sense. I’m referring to the times he attempted or did the unthinkable to her)
Other than that, it was also batshit crazy to see him gouging out his eyeballs in retaliation to his schizophrenia possibly. When he said sorry to Dahye at the end, maybe it was in the back of his mind that he finally gained some control to say what he needed to say — a state of normalcy for a few seconds. Of course, just to mention, his actions were unjustifiable, and a simple sorry won’t fix everything. It was just like Dahye said. Sometimes you wanted to punch this guy to the curb, yet sometimes you can’t help but feel sorry for him. His schizophrenia got the better of him and it took his family along with him.
Dahye was lucky to be able to run away, and overall, this manwha was just as good as it was horrific, and that needs an applause in its entirety.
This was a lengthy review, I probably couldn’t write down everything I wanted because I binge-read this all in a day so I’ll try my best to organize my thoughts more thoroughly next time.
If you plan on reading this manwha, brace yourself for all the shit that’s about to go down. Thanks for reading!!

ngl the pacing is kinda lackluster with the way that things don’t get introduced until later on when it’s more important, we don’t really get to see Jelack’s improvement, just several panels of her getting her ass beat and suddenly she’s more powerful than she used to be, not much else, feels like it just gets glossed over so the reader’s don’t feel much about her, does anyone feel the same?
Both the son and mom are dirtbags :sob:
