I’d put off reading this for a long time. I finally read it and it was just beautiful. The first half was difficult to read because it was so cruel. Well written but it’s hard to see someone go through such experiences for years on end.
But the second half was amazing not just because of the emotions and regret, but because it actually ACKNOWLEDGED trauma and how hard it can be. And true acknowledgment of the cause of the trauma, and regret on the part of the person causing the trauma. So many 18+ manhwa never seem to get this right, and feel hollow and superficial.
I’m actually so glad that it didn’t have smut e,g, in bonus chapters when they were older because it would have detracted from the sheer beauty of the story.
This story made me cry but in a good way. Really well written especially regarding the characters inner most thoughts.

Also. Tatsumi and Senzaki for the win. And the prose describing their relationship, going against society, and obsession with each other was top tier.
The only character I loved was Atsumu. Being bullied his entire life never changed his kindness. He was just lovely. And the guy wanting to take revenge for his brother was also nice. The MC’s strength of character was never broken and you’ve got to respect that.
I think the MC definitely went through a redemption arc, eventually defending those less powerful than him. But why was he the only one? He never raped anyone although he was awful at the beginning. Why was there no redemption for any of the rapists, Karino included?
Because love saves us all. And forgiveness and growing up blah blah.
Fuck that. Bitch I want REVENGE.

Remember when Karino pushed him down a flight of stairs, blindfolded him and raped him? And now they are happy together. Lovely.
As for Eno, he had rape trauma. Can you imagine how many people he caused to get raped though? Not just raped but gang raped. So what? The cycle of abuse continues? Fuck that. Have some empathy you bitch.

I like tho that the author didn't excuse the things they did, especially for Eno. Like he knows he'll have to live with what he did forever, but I think it also shows the pervasiveness of trauma and the amount of strength it takes to break such a vicious cycle. In that way I think Atsumu was probabky the strongest character, and then Azusa who was touched by his kindness. I think for all of them living their lives now, it's less a testament of "they get to be happy now despite what they did" and more of a "we have to keep moving forward and not live in the past" or else they risk projecting their trauma onto those around them. Seems also like Eno and Kagura started beong advocates for SA survivors, so I really liked that detail. As for redemption for the rapists, I don't think you can ever redeem yourself for that, but they did grow as people and will probably never do that again or let that happen again. Man this series is so good and nuanced and also horrifically twisted. Too bad it's so dark cuz I can't go around recommending it to everyone willy nilly.

These two are ADORABLE. And you know what, this is how gay men behave in real life. Two mature men getting into a relationship.
Not some delicate flower childlike uke and obsessed rapist seme.
Ugh. I just love them and I love how much they love each other.
Also. The uke is taller than the seme. I can’t. That’s just too fucking hot.

Ok, so out of everyone here Sungjae is the cutest. He’s so stupid in an adorable way, but still quite attractive. And he always means well and wears his heart on his sleeve. I bet he’d be a crybaby top.
Sigh. Totally my type. I know side characters like him don’t generally get their own stories but I really wish he would. He’d be the ultimate puppy falling in love with a tsundere.

Now I remember why I could never enjoy this manhwa.
Lee Joohoon got off Scott free. The man that literally organised the gang rape - nothing happened to him. The rapists would not have raped him if they were not instructed by Lee Joohoon. And he just sat there with a smile on his cunt face saying that they mustn’t make it boring for him. I get that the twin orchestrated all this shit, but why did they behave like he was the only villain?
Lee Joohoon was someone I hated even more than the twin and I HATE that the seme worked with him just to get a confession even though he watched the video. And then the punishment for the twin was what? To get raped by Lee Joohoon.
And then in the side stories we get smut. Fuck that shit. I want justice.
This could have such an amazing story for me, but it’s just tainted.
And don’t get me started on people calling the victim a slut when his rape video was passed around. I hate everyone in that fucking school.

They were all just a big herd of sheep afraid to disobey the hierarchy of their social reputations in their system. It’s really sad how even just being a target of a group can have the greatest and most powerful tool of all—which is social isolation— impact people’s abilities to empathize or even help in dire situations like that in fear of being outcasted is really pathetic and sad. Nothing can be more detrimental than having no one by or on your side. Like the original body of the twin , MC happened to take over.
This was messed up but SO good. Manhwas are nice because they have color, but if you want the plot to be PLOTTING, there’s nothing like a Japanese manga. I’m very satisfied.
