I don't dislike this Niro.
I actualy was bothered by his fatalism. It's good to see his anger, who is not about his sisters only, but about the entire world.
He seems arrogant but, hey, he CAN be. Honestly : they are narrow-minded, mean, and useless. Niro is above them with his capacities and it's time for them to get it.
It's better for Niro to make real allies than to waste his time with people who hate him from the start anyway.
PS : I agree that he is quite cold, but I think he need some time to calm down
