It happens in real life too tho with really strict families that want to arrange marriages for their kids, so the kids have to buy a fake lover or find someone else that is in their situation and get married so they don’t marry a complete stranger.
There have been situations where the children of the parents didn’t want to get married, so the parents have kidnapped their own children and put them in suitcases so that they can marry them off even if it’s against their children’s will.
I had a teacher that has really rich parents (they come from old money families) and they own big corporation and the parents wanted to merge the companies so they can get more money, and forced my teacher’s parents to marry each other even if they hate each other. They didn’t get a prenup so they haven’t divorced bc they don’t want to give the other money.
The parents were also forced to produce a child (that being my teacher) so that the child could inherit the business, but my teacher wanted to become a teacher and live away from the rich. The parents also wanted her to be married off to another rich dude in order to become more rich, but my teacher ran away.
She told me that this still happens even in the USA, and the rest of the world so to be careful of the rich (especially old money)
