Then don’t read

I like it because it’s like a mature and violent “ Beauty & The Beast “ I like tragic, toxic, twisted stories because i like being on the edge of my chair, and I like that’s it’s even sugary sweet once the toxic person simps in the end or maybe like sacrifices themselves for the one they hurt I personally like seeing a hot guy in command and I like Stockholm syndrome forbidden relationships because they are so bizarre and fucked. It’s thrilling, He’s, there was rape but there also was consensual act too and the art is PHENOMENAL and consistent. For me it’s worth feeling uncomfortable for some scenes to get so much of what I want. . It’s only been like a month in this story so far so there is lots more to go.

I wrote that really fast so there r typos but I’m open for discussion.

How would I form an opinion without reading the manga, dummy? This is what I got after reading the so far and last time I checked, that was the whole point of the topics, commenting on the manga. Just like I don't have to read you can also ignore my comment, it's common sense. #－.－)

I kept reading cuz I thought that in the 65 chapters the seme would show some improvement, a redemption of sorts i wanted to give it a fair chance before i commented or was influenced by others opinion on it.

They're just saying their point of view, you don't even know if they'll keep reading it or not. Just let them say what they feel about this story. Have you heard of freedom of speech ? And some of the readers keep reading it to see how it will end (despite being triggered by every chapters) because they need closure or they're just curious. So don't be rude to strangers just bc they don't share the same thoughts as you.

Well, it has been 65 ch but time wise it’s barely even ticked by. It’s been just weeks since he arrived. Someone who is disturbed and clearly bipolar can not change that quickly and even so, someone who is this sick (killed someone ch 1 etc) has actually shown vulnerability already.. that comes first AND can be thrown off kilter as shown just by 1 instance - NK “running away” right after SH expressed that he’s “A wreck” - wrecked with something foreign.. Love.. (to him) so.. some character development doesn’t develop to goodness .. sometimes it supposed to develop to deeper wickedness (I,e. Thing him up and threatening to kill people)

A lot of the highest rating stuff here dependant on the art and the smut. Once in a while you will find one with actual good story and characters, but they are the rarity. Many of them have rather basic story and they are in service of the smut rather than the other way around.

I started reading Painter of the Night because of the high ratings, but I have a hard time liking it because of the rape and abuse. I'm also not a fan of weak main character like Nakyum. The art alone could not save it for me.

However, I will give it to the author for choosing an interesting setting. The premise of a painter working for a feudal lord is quite unique, and for a while Seungho was looking to be developed into a complex character. Sadly, that is thrown out of the window. I feel the author is more interested in drawing the smut than progress the story.

Overall it was an okay read. I can see why it is popular, but I prefer something with more substance.

Well I have seen way too many people attacking those who only expressed their point of view and usually what they keep saying is "then don't read it" and it's fucking tiresome at some point. It came out quite insolent tbh, even if it wasn't your intention. And I don't quite agree with you, a story can make you uncomfortable but you can keep reading it if it's interesting enough or if it piques your curiosity (like Killing Stalking for example, it can makes people uncomfortable which is totally normal since it's a psychological thriller with some gore shits and all but it's actually really interesting and really good).

For the same people kinda "enjoy" reading tragedies. Emotions are stronger... and intensified enough for you to care. It's the same formula with Silent Lover or even Princess Sarah. Cute being going through a lot. We are waiting for the Uke to find happiness (or for more drama). Easy.

C'mon don't be a hypocrite you're perfectly aware that the majority of people who kept reading it were hoping for a character development or any sign of development in this story. And comment section is open for everyone and they have the right to comment how they feel about the story even if they don't like it. This is freedom of speech and you should expect people to have different opinions than yours.

POTN has always been trash.
It’s clearly romanticizing rape and overall it really is a shitty manhwa. If people were to look past the pretty art then they would realize how empty and shallow there is. there's barely any plot. Honestly describe to me what the plot is. There is no conflict besides rape, and even then it wasn't portrayed as bad. POTN is bad, but I will see this shit show till the end.. If you like it i really don’t care, you’re entitled to your own opinion however the same way you praise this manga we’re allowed to dislike it and point out flaws that could’ve been better.

I already answered you. Why do you keep asking that? People are curious, people want to know if there will be a development in the story, people want to know how it will end, people want closure. Do I need to give you more reasons as to why people keep reading a story even if it make them mad? Saying "then don't read it" to someone who only express how they feel about a story is completely irrelevant. They'll give the reasons why they feel that way and instead of actually taking it into account you just answer with something completely useless and irrelevant such as "then don't read it" and it shows how you actually don't give a shit about what they have to say and how you don't care about their reasons at all.
