that's probably the best way to read this story so.....
i really don't like the top. he's just dwelling, acts like when he feels like it and doesn't contribute anything else to the relationship. meanwhile the bottom has feelings for him, tries to get closer to him, feeling confuse and hurt over the top. and the top just ain't doing anything it's kinda frustrating (and yes i've read the novel and he's just goddamn stagnant).

not to mention when they get together, he still wonders if the bottom actually likes him or is still caught up in his role, but then he freaking calls the bottom the name of his character when they were having sex so like bruh??? yea it's not like he's an asshole or abusive but he's borderline hypocrite and he's just frustrating, feels like the whole plot is moving just bc he's dwelling on the relationship

After they got together, the bottom invited the top to go to his family's house bc he wanted to cross over the new year with the top. After the above spoilers about the whole name thing, the bottom confronted the top about it when they went for a night stroll. They had a fight about it, went home then the top said he will be leaving the next day, as it turns out the top had already planned to leave (literally he already brought the tickets beforehand wtf) after the new year since he already did what the bottom wanted (sending new year together) so he could just basically go home, it's what he's thinking. An asshole move on his side and then they're back to no communication until some shit happened to the bottom.
Sorry I went into venting mode, I just never seen such a frustrating top before lmao
christ this author really knows how to write an asshole. tbh i'm not much of a fan of Asher either, but after hearing that shit about remington i kind of want to wring is neck lol.
and please, don't worry about venting hksbsj. i think after that kind of mess of a story you should be allowed to complain. i've read BL/manga with more frustrating tips, but remington is at least in the top 5.
IKRRR it's not like he's abusive or anything but like his indecisiveness is so frustrating and he does things that actually hurts the bottom then lowkey gaslight into why he was acting this way bla bla, it's so infuriating.

EXACTLY!!! i'm tired of authors romanticizing unhealthy relationships and making it seem like tops that gaslight, lie, and are lowkey rapists are extremely romantic. most of the authors are cishet girls anyway, so i'm not surprised that most BL/yaoi has toxic relationships and a lack of communication.
