might be completely off track but what if the devil king was doing all of that before he lost his memory bc that's what his people (the devils) wanted? without his memories he said that he gave away his food bc that's what people needed from him, so it could be that he never had any ambitions but thought he was doing the right thing as their king?

Bc when you think about it he probably had that same mind set before the amnesia and as the demon king he probably felt that his people probably "needed" him also, which might have lead him to the situation with the saviors or it could be that the empire made a big lie and twisted his deeds and sent the saviors who could believe in the lie the empire made up. just thinking that the demon king is strong could have spooked the empire but I mean who knows? This is just speculation on my end.
You know a big plot hole is that the demon king is just that, a demon king. It never actually says why he is evil or anything. Like we haven't even seen any demons we just saw wolves.
Now, if the writers were smart they'd play into this and toy with the theme of what truly makes a person evil. But instead, they are quite obviously tumbling over it, which I know because it's used strictly as something to contemplate for our MC to poorly increase tension.
hmm... now that you mentioned it hmmm... yeah i can kinda see what you mean. do you think it can be a potential plot flip? demon king turns out to be a decent person and the 3 supposed ML's tricked or brainwashed into Grace's scheme which makes them into evil saviors blinded by Grace? oh and can you go into more detail about the part with them playing with the "theme of what truly makes a person evil" bc i can't quite wrap my head around it... I'm thinking the 3 former ML's were heading down that path.
well you know, the classic debate of good and bad, moral ambiguity etc. Honestly it's been so overused in classic literature that even if they did delve into a proper theme rather than relying on romance to support the plot I still wouldn't be impressed.
Btw, I saw spoilers in topics so I know what happens now. There's a plot twist... it's... somewhat creative but I'm still not impressed so I'm dropping this. Happy speculating though ;)

that's another possibility i saw also but lets hope it doesn't go that route. Hopefully the demon king rules the dukedom and the demon realm with the FL if it leans into the romantic cliché route
