I wouldn’t go that far. His brother did wrong and that should be known. There’s no excuses or justifications for just letting your own brother join in a dangerous drug trial and end up almost homeless. There’s just no justification for that. You can support your kin without enabling them. He could have taught him life skills from beside him. I had a super naive bestie and I’d like to think that I raised her to not be so naive. Before I met her, she’d talk to strangers in central London including shady old men who asked if she wanted to go out on a date with them (we were like 13 at the time) and I was the one who stood by her side and kept her from harm. We are 20 now. She recently went to a party and told me that an older man offered to take her home cause she was stumbling drunk after her friends forced her to drink and her bf refused to pick her up so she told the man no in a really loud voice and called an Uber. When she got home, she told me the story and said she did what she thought I would have done then dumped those friends who got her that drunk and didn’t get her home. If I can help my friend to become a less naive person while still keeping her kindness intact, the brother could have done the same. In fact he has more incentive cause that’s his baby brother!
