I had a workplace like this before. I couldn't even go pee without my manager yelling at me because I wasn't not on my seat and threatening to put an end to my contract. I ended up with a urinary tract infection when I tried not to go. And though I was always 1hour earlier at work bc I took the bus, he was always yelling I was late. It escalated to the point where he arranged everyone's schedule so that I was alone to eat at lunch and had to take all the workload alone during the rush because all the other were taking their lunch, threatening other not to become friendly woth me unless they wanted their contract to end too. But what made me go completly sick was the day he took me to his office to say "he couldn't stand to see my face first thing in the morning. It annoyed him so much it was like it was the end of the world."
I ended up not being able to get out of my room without having the need to vomit and cry for a week. I decided to take sick leave until the end of my contract after that. He must have felt guilty because the last time I met him was at the supermarket and he got out without event shopping when he saw me.
I would have loved it if someone stepped in for me at the time. So I really hope the author won't make it go this path for Yiyoung.
