Why are so many people freaking out about mistresses that aren't even official concubines??? They're just potential candidates that he took in so the nobles would leave him alone and because his wife pissed him off saying he should do it (when he didn't even want to in there first place). He'll, he doesn't even really interact with any of them because he really loves his empress, he's the only one we see him dance with. And there aren't even rumors of him being interested in or paying any attention to any of the girls that came to the palace.

Do you want me to have concubinr instead? Hmph Fine ill do" Something like that? I mean the fl wasnt any better but thats what i thought
He didn't love her in the beginning because she wasn't herself but her tyrant self from the story (and almost EVERYONE hated her). But then when she changed her reputation and started doing better he started to like her and eventually fell in love with her again (like he did in her past). When he tried to express his feelings to her she rejected him and it hurt but he hadn't given up on her or anything because he still loved her. It was when she said he could take on concubines (which he was against and came to talk to her about it) that really set him off and in an emotional moment said he would. He brought in candidates for the position but after that he payed them no mind whatsoever. Heck, he still is trying to win her heart (which if you really think about it, she's partially responsible for some things happening as well. He doesn't know about her past life and just sees a woman he loves rejecting him and telling him to find another woman.) even at thus point in the story.
Everyone needs a partner like this who loves you unconditionally and expresses it enthusiastically. Love is such a rare thing now a days so men like this are truly gems in an ocean full of rocks

Ngl, even though so many people say they don't like this relationship, I kind of appreciate it and like it. I can't wait to see this still very new and very much still learning relationship develope more. I also can't wait to see how issues progress and how they're solved.
