And this comment section is the proof of that. Some even see that JJ is wrong but in order to condemn what JJ did they need to make it seem as if both are at fault lol. On a side note I hate how a seme being angry always means no prep even with knowing how much it hurt and that they could injure their partner. I hate the way they use sex as a way to vent their anger and punish the uke because it’s simply violence and in many cases outright rape. People would call it out if they started hitting their partner but since it’s “sex” people give it a pass.

I'll be honest I stuck around because I genuinely fell for Dooshik. Nothing against Jooha but he didn't stand out to me as particularly different from other characters in BL series, personality wise I mean. With Dooshik however I felt like I found a unique and vibrant ML. A bit goofy and silly, getting himself in many embarrassing situations, acting like an easy going f boy with a good heart but actually being someone longing for just that one person for him to love and protect. just a hopeless, almost naive, romantic lover boy. From chestnut boy to host to gangster. He just felt like a chameleon, someone with hidden depth, unfailingly positive and yet thoughtful. I just loved him. Like how many MLs have you seen portrayed seducing older guys as prostitutes? And it was so done very tastefully, it was funny yet charming. And, let's not forget how he's also crazy strong, standing alone after taking down a whole crew, very shonen coded. Ughh, such a departure from the cold, psycho rich type ML with a barely sad back story to justify his bullshit (basically Pilwon). He was a breath of fresh air to me.

Yet my love for him couldn't make all the other issues go unnoticed.

The sides show things remain the same from start to finish, the author clearly has a rape fetish as illustrated by the storyline and the graphic depictions of rape/gang rape they chose to include. 90% of it genuinely felt completely unnecessary and as if it was treated as pure smut. Something for readers to enjoy instead of feeling repulsed by it. Pilwon was treated more as a second ML than a rapist and abuser and a lot of the plot falls flat because it feels there’s genuinely no purpose for all Jooha went through aside from the author wanting to draw those scenes. It feels more like a kink (questionable kink at that but to each their own) than a sincere story about overcoming trauma from forced prostitution and abuse. Basically trauma porn. The pearls kinda lose importance pretty quickly too.

Sigh. With Dooshik, things went downhill with how he somehow was turned into a more typical ML , especially that revenge rape scene and I felt like once again it was back to the kinks taking priority over characterization and plot. Still In a twisted way, I kinda appreciated the revenge Dooshik took, because it added more dimension to his character to see how low he could stoop, how much his character could darken. Also because rapists or pedophiles never ever see retribution in BLs. In many cases they're the love interest and get a happy ending with their victim. Or in other cases it's just brushed off. No one goes to jail or ever get anything coming their way. So it was refreshing to see it in an eye for an eye format. But of course once again way too graphic and it was treated as smut as well and also proved how hard it is for people to enjoy “rape scenes” as it just served to make people feel bad for those guys. And once again Pilwon didn't even get the same treatment like why? Dooshik going “dark” was an interesting plot point that could have given us a solid arc with Jooha wrestling with his trauma and what Dooshik did and also for Dooshik to deal with his own actions and his feelings about what happened to Jooha. But nope.

It’s interesting people have an issue with both of them sleeping around. Like being promiscuous while not in a relationship is not wrong. Some BL readers have strangely puritain views on some stuff. They hate seeing the main characters having sex with others, especially the ukes. Meanwhile they can enjoy abuse, toxicity and will happily root for rapists. It’s funny to draw the line at “infidelity” and “promiscuity”.

The MCs can both do whatever they want with other people. The only issue is when one party starts to act possessive and territorial and wants to impose things on the other one. You can’t demand things from someone you’re not willing to commit to. It’s egotistical. Especially if you’re happily fucking around as well. I really hope Minchan won’t pull some gender double standards shit about what alphas are allowed to do and I hope our little boxer will call him out.

To his adult self without any change whatsoever, Hamin will have his hands full trying to teach him a semblance of normality but then again Hamin is apparently drawn to that brand of craziness so it’s a great match.

The current translation is not the worst I’ve seen but for this kind of story I think the subtleties are essential to fully appreciate the story and some of it is unfortunately confusing.like some of the dialogue makes no sense.

It’d be nice that while the MC is making an effort to accept the ML’s kink, the ML was also able to show consideration for the MC and his comfort.Interesting premises but why make a show of how accepting the MC can be only to right away show the completed lack of consideration and respect he gets in return. I have a feeling it’s meant to be humorous? Like the more the MC hits him to try to stop him,the more the ML gets turned on and keep going …yikes,

I'm always conflicted about this type of story. When someone wants to hide something and be left alone because of a tragic or complicated past but people keep hunting them down for their own agenda, forcing the person's hand and disregarding their wishes. It's always a bit irritating to watch, like I can't help but root for them to get their way but it's like obviously never the plot. And on then, on top of it it's usually paired with this type of MC who keeps going on about needing to be cautious, what they need to avoid doing and etc not to get caught but few scenes later they keep doing everything they said they wouldn't do almost as if they're dying to get caught. Like Seo start the chapter with "I absolutely won't do this" and end the chapter with "oh shit, I shouldn't have done this." Still an interesting and good story tho.

There’s this weird parallel between how the sicko guy at the orphanage treated Sehyuk and that scene where he removes his belt to tie up Hamin. From the gestures to the dialogue about Hamin needing to be punished and needing the vent his anger until he wasn’t mad anymore or even the line “ whip you harder” looking at the flashback, it’s quite eerie. All things considered Sehyuk didn’t turn out so bad with growing up with being ostracized ,neglected, mentally, emotionally and physically abused and all that but it’s interesting to see how the author is possibly showing how much he’s still a product of his environment. His need to overpower people and assert his dominance and etc. It’s kind of interesting rereading the whole thing and seeing the culmination of Sehyuk’s obsession and commitment to get Hamin, really makes the whole thing more intense but also there’s so many scenes where he was hinting at what he’d do once he stopped holding back that yeah this is almost fair play lol, Hamin was warned again and again and again .
