
Most stories don't ever bring back the topic of the child in the past life unless in a situation that requires that 'im gonna show them hell' vibe. It's there in the beginning of the story, and later it's rarely mentioned. The fact that she's mourning her child...makes this story different? At least that's my general perception of such plot elements.
When the dude first appeared being "I'm thristy", my brain was like "can't you see the dude's thirsty from all that massacring? Get him some freaking water, dammit!"
