i was gonna stop reading this cause her flashback about her traumatic past with her dad had me triggered in all the wrong places— i kept having flashbacks too whenever i read the part about her dad drinking and then being aggressive
the way she kept mentioning about being on "edge" and "walking on eggshells" reminded me of the time that he was still alive (my dad died like april this year) it was definitely traumatic enough that we had to be careful all the time
that part when she said "i don't know why he drinks" was highly relatable or that one chapter with the duke scolded her harshly that she became frozen with fear too..
all in all, i think i continued reading because i saw her finding relief— with her brothers and the duke! it was oddly satisfying although i can't help but tear up
