I think the energies come from that what learn, or something like that. They all learned under their father, that becomes one energy, but the brothers learned from the elderly twins, so that's two. Though in regards to what they learned from the academy, I'm not technically sure, but maybe it's similar to basic techniques, so doesn't contribute to the make up of their energies??? This is all just an assumption though. (⌒▽⌒)
