The Desmond family dynamic is really weird. Melinda doesn't seem fond of her husband, and seems afraid(?)/uncomfortable of him. It's obvious she doesn't like Donovan, maybe it was an an arranged marriage set up by her family and she never agreed to it. I think she did love Damian a lot, but her psycho switch flipped every single time Damian mentioned the word "father" and she overtime grew more resentful to the fact that maybe someday her children may end up turning like their father. Poor Damian just wanted some familial love.
