The idea was nice but the execution and the character development or the relationship progression feels..bland and off.
Throughout the story, I felt bitter that Wan didn't tell him the truth. He lied to him being his best friends.Once he was able to get on Hawoon's good side, he dares to ask to be in a relationship and be phsyically affectionate all the while forgetting what he was to Hawoon before. I don't know about you, but although Hawoon treated him with disrespect in the past, there's a reason why he put on such act and the cause is due to a psychological trauma.(Refer to their last scene together before Hawoon lost his memory)
I'm not justifying Hawoon's attitude but if Wan wants to be special with him, I wished he could have considered that Hawoon's had been sexually abused. Lying to Hawoon about being his bestfriends then ask for intimacy because you succeeded making fall for you with your nice actions... is manipulative and selfish. I'm well aware that their feelings are mutual, and Hawoon himself choose to be in a romantic relationship with Wan but the reason why he fall for him in the first place, is because how 'nice' Wan is which I already argued, I can't buy that.
I feel frustrated that Wan failed to be honest. I'm okay that he harbour a romantic feelings toward Hawoon, but if he could be patient to wait until Hawoon regained his memory back while in the midst of protecting and helping him, it could be more dramatic, and romantic, even..
Despite that, I understand where Wan is coming from.He is not physically strong and is socially awkward. He have trouble communicating with others well enough because he had beenmisunderstood and bullied by the people around him for so long. Due that, it's hard to have anyone special by your side and it must have been lonely for him, whiche explains why he was desperate. In the end, he did his best to protect Hawoon's from that perverted pedophile by keeping Hawoon hidden, kept his amnesia a secret, always comes to rescue Hawoon, and is still brave enough to meet the big brother for Hawoon's safety. Although I don't agree with Wan, his character did seem realistic.
Also, it bothers me when Hawoon forgave Wan that quick when Wan barely explaines himself and just drag about how he deserves to be punished. Their problems were solved with just a kiss just because they saw each other cried. Well, maybe, tears speak for itself? I don't know anymore
On the other hand, Hawoon is not an interesting character to me. I don't know what's his charms actually are, that he is psychotic bully? Or his romantic dynamic with Wan? That he's multifacial character with a dark past? That he is handsome? I'm not really sure.
Some of the ideas they have, like Wan's late parents and Suho's relationship with Wan is useless? Like, I get it Wan barely remembered his parents but since it was mentioned,I thought that could give insight to Wan's personality but I guess it was just there to incite Hawoon's family background. We also got to see how Suho and Wan were like before, but nothing really happened afterwards. There was no change to Suho's character except for the repetitive narrrative that Wan is a dear friend to him. Like, we could have seen him be agitated about Wan's safety ever since the accident or how the story could high-light how he really loves Wan (as a friend) but instead, Suho just showed up out of nowhere and mostly for the convenience of the plot.
That's all I could think of for now. I don't hate the story nor am I angry. There's just a few things I felt are misplaced and empty. But since some of enjoyed the story, I think it would be a great opportunity for a discussion, I do want to be enlighten. In short, this is just my opinion, have your own perspective.
The rival looks ugly lmao, if he was handsome, there will be more spice and Id be more confused and I like it when stories makes me second guess my choice hahahahaha
Well, maybe he no handsome but maybe an absolute psycho?
Ikr. I absolutely smell an obsessive, asshole personality there
