So ML is for sure responsible for a)how he treated his fated pair after the pairing b) how he treated MC afterwards. But when we read a story that has a different frame don't impose our current frame rules. For example a story which takes place in ancient china and the emperor has 1 wife and 3 concubines. "He is a cheater". That notion does not exist (at least for the emperor) at that frame. Religion, society and law expects him to have many women and many kids.
