I’m a little bit confused what happened when they returned to the mansion. The soldiers got together and were talking but it confused me. And the last scene did too
In essence to them her actions even though know to us the readers. Reflect badly on her in aspect of being his future wife. To them she abandoned him when times got tough. She didn't weather the storm. She's been deemed unworthy of him and so they have lost respect for her. Choosing not to serve her, when she rang for them in the last scene.
In modern day aspects its like if you or a family member where dating someone in the army about to go to war or deportment. The person in question if they love the person strong enough they will stay in a relationship with them and wait for them to return no matter how long. Sometimes this one aspect can be too much for some because of the chase they could die. Even though they could love them to the moon and back its alot to ask someone. Or if the person does return from war there mentally, physically or both forever changed from who the once where. They're not the same person they were before the war. helpfully this explanation helped if not me talking in circles

I don’t think the first ch is the right ch cuz it makes no sense to the summary of this manga. The first chapter somehow a truck and the driver ended up in a book when it ran into a girl holding the book not to mention the there was a spelling error in the first chapter too
