He didn't tell her to disappear, he basically said he would. Like a "fine, I'll just go away forever" kind of temper tantrum cuz she rejected him.

Actually re-read that part. She said what he SEES is a mirage. Basically, that he thinks she's very strong and great, but she knows she's still very fragile and any relationship they try to have wouldn't be equal at all.

I second this. I also re-read it and what I got from it is that she meant to say what he sees (in her) is a mirage.
Plus, what I understood from their relationship before is they both have a mutual "unsaid' understanding before that both of them might just work, it's just they need time to build up whatever it is that they are lacking so they can both be upfront with their feelings without having to deal with any backlash. And it seemed to me that the duke kind of wanted to rush their relationship because he was getting pressed by the both princes.
Hey I'm not pointing fingers here, but I think these are also worth mentioning to see that both sides have their faults.

I don’t know what’s so “boring” or “trashy” about this plot but I think it’s interesting so far(￣∇￣"). I also don’t think that the pacing of the story is as bad as the comments say because it seems like the mc is doing the best she can to make the original story flow, which is why she’s putting a lot more time into her actions (does that make sense?)
