Why do many yaoi mangaka's romanticize rape

maybe check the tags in the future so you know what you’re getting into. reading this and then complaining there’s rape is like reading killing stalking and getting upset that’s there’s killing and stalking (and various other levels of depravity) in it, yk? anyhow, i don’t think rape is romanticised in this manga anyway, because it isn’t really excused or portrayed as an act of love. i think it’s pretty candid about how unwanted and shit the situation is for the victim, gratuitous smut aside. but it’s a smut yaoi after all, what did you expect?
if this isn’t for you, there are plenty of other yaoi that doesn’t feature non con etc. better yet, check out the shounen ai tag. i’ll even recommend one, silver diamond is really good and wholesome and also has great worldbuilding

uhh i’m not really into cheating in yaoi so i tend to avoid it. i don’t have any personal recs but
here’s a tag i found: http://www.mangago.zone/tag/cheating/
oh and found another here which is more specific to your tastes: http://www.mangago.zone/home/mangatopic/865853/
maybe ask for recs in the forums/topics/whatever they’re called. sorry, can’t help you much there

Problem is tho that reading genre tags barely helps. There is no clear tag for rape (for whatever reason, because that would be damn good to have).
The mature tag as well as the phsycological tag do not make rape as a plotpoint mandatory. They often include those, but that's not what the tag is mainly for.
Smut tag on the other hand simply really means: Lots of fucking and no plot to give a shit about. (Which can mean rape, often enough, but is also not a warning for rape).
So that's definitely something people who get into yaoi need to know. XD
I really wish the website would include more, official genre tags. We could really need those. Would make searching for stuff easier too...

ah you have point there, the genre tags aren’t too specific. what i tend to do is to check the popular tags which you can find when you rate the manga, i was referring to that. it’s not always reliable, especially since romanticising rape is an issue in the yaoi genre. but it’s one way to get around this and avoid anything potentially triggering, yk?
but in this particular case, this manga’s whole plot literally revolves around blackmail, coercion, rape etc which is different from the one off trope you find. this manga doesn’t shy away from that at all or disguise it as anything else. the tags definitely reflect that

True, those tags can be helpful indeed. It would be nice if they were a little more obvious/well-placed on the page tho. It took me about a year or so to even know they existed, since the important bits are at the very top of the page. XD (Not sure if it's different on mobile tho, I don't have a phone.)
Totally agreed. It's definitely one of the less 'romanticized' plots and rather one that just uses it as a plotpoint to work with for it's own goals. The fact that the uke causes almost/very obvious comedy bits during the first rape scene already kinda makes this more of a rape-fetish fantasy sorta read to me rather than a plot that 'makes rape ok' and pretends to be more realistic (which very few yaoi manga are to begin with anyway). There's a difference, but I guess it's quite thin and subtle at times (and depending on who reads it).
In my eyes this is one of the better rape-focused plots. I'm usually not fond of them (they make me cringe and curl up into a ball of despair that wants to scrub it's skin off), but I can treat it differently if the characters in it are acting more comedic rather than seriously fearful (feels to me like a behind-the-scenes of a porno shooting tbh). Especially since I know works like those of Harada and Co.. That shit is scarring, for life sometimes. And I'm still trying to rid my memory off those... :'D
Shit those spoilers are spoiling some bad tea...
