I'm not 100% sure I understand where she is coming from.... I'm trying not to judge, since it seems like the author wants to show she's going through something. But it seemed like a "I can't be happy so you can't be happy" moment, which is upsetting. I'm guessing the author uses this as an opportunity to start that convo between the two.
