I feel like it needs to happen in order for them to truly be able to find happiness together. The ML is walking on eggshells bc he doesn't want MC to get hurt meanwhile MC misunderstands this as ML keeping a distance between them and grows anxious and feels like he doesn't belong there.
Something needs to happen to trigger a change and get them to truly understand each other, otherwise they'll continue like this for all eternity
