The body-switching element felt like an unnecessary twist in the story. I really wanted Sion to have his moment of revenge or at least to settle the score while still in his original form. He went through so much, his demise by getting crushed by a stone with a angel (god?) drawn on was really hurting, it was like a mockery of his faith in god, poor boy …. Switching body trope is one that I most dislik, it’s always frustrating when the mc switches bodies and then seeks vengeance in a new form which usually unsatisfactory bc most of the time the person inflected them pain in the previous life (friend/family member) ..either gets an redemption arc or is a love interest, It always seems like the mc never truly get the closure they deserve after enduring so much in their previous body. The plot and character design are stunning, which makes it all the more disappointing.
But the body switch aspect, though admittedly not very fair on og Sion, is a good highlight of the nature of "God" in this universe. It highlights how disconnected God is to the common folk when even og Sion as the bearer of the stigmata was not heard until his last dying breath all because he wasn't the holy king. His death shows how cruel the nature of God's mercy can be, even to those who bear stigmatas (essentially God's blessings). This isn't a revenge story, if anything Sion taking advantage of Siennas' privilege to steer the course of fate down a brighter path is him stopping the cycle of tragedies that Parvel himself has gone through numerous times in order stop what seemed like a doomed fate. We can also see Sion as Siennas opposing Duke Mayee as his form of self revenge towards the true antagonist of his previous life. Duke Mayee was the instigator of many for the tragedies from his past life so by rebelling against him as Siennas, Sion gets to prevent what went on in his previous life to a certain extent as his form of closure. The whole point of him taking over Siennas' body is that in his previous life he was not born into a fortunate body, but now that he is, not only does God now see and hear him but he is also now not powerless as he has been granted all the tools to forge a better future. Also note, while everyone knows him as "Siennas who suddenly became a competent king" there are people aware that is not Siennas. Parvel and Tatiana saw through him immediately upon first meeting. That's why Tatiana was so amicable to him and why Parvel went from hostile to caring towards him. Another thing to consider is that in this timeline, Sion as he was never existed alongside the tragedies that lead him down to his death in the previous life. This is a far more peaceful timeline. We even know that Parvel had already looked into searching for him before he reincarnated as Siennas.

Tldr; Sion being reborn into Siennas' body isn't a bad thing because he isn't helpless anymore and has the power to prevent all the tragedies that plagued his previous life as his form of closure. The whole point of the story is to allow those who wrongfully died in the previous life a chance at a better future whilst actively punishing those who's greed lead to many tragedies. This is an exception of the body switch trope because Sion isn't vengeful, but rather highlights his competence as a holy king, verifying the "what if" of his previous life. That and, confirming the fickle nature of God as deity blinded by his worshipers.
